ChesterBoat Crew Member Role Description

Assisting the Skipper and Passenger Boat Manager in delivering first class customer experiences. Assisting with the preparation and operation of the passenger boat, attracting passengers on board and ensuring safety of passengers, colleagues and contractors at all times.

The Pleasure Boat Manager.

£65-£70 a day, depending on age and experience.

This is not a traditional bar staff position. It combines the role of bar person with boat crew member. The Crew member’s duties include but are not limited to:

Assisting with touting for passengers when required on the quayside, as well as answering customer enquiries and marketing the company’s other products.

Selling tickets prior to sailing.

Serving drinks, promoting bar sales, managing and restocking the bar.

Working the bar during evening cruises, providing a high level of customer service. Pre-pouring welcome drinks, clearing tables and glasses where required.

Observing an accurate count of passenger numbers and communicating this with the Pleasure Boat Skipper.

Accurate recording of passenger numbers and ticket sales. Cashing-up ticket and bar takings at the end of the shift with explanation of any discrepancies.

Mooring the passenger boat, using safe rope handling techniques.

Assisting with and supervising the safe boarding and disembarkation of all passengers, colleagues and contractors.

Maintaining a clean and tidy boat prior to the day’s operation, and then between and after sailings.

Preparation of the passenger boat for Evening cruises, including cleaning, furniture layouts and preparation of welcome drinks.

Observing safe working practices at all times and ensuring the vessel is safe and all access gates are securely fastened prior to sailing.

Checking, cleaning and maintaining hygienic toilet facilities prior to, during and after each sailing.

Ensuring the boat is left in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the day’s operation, to a standard that you would be happy to receive it yourself at the start of your next shift.

Wearing the company uniform and maintaining a high level of personal presentation, commensurate with the role.

Assisting the Pleasure Boat Skipper with any reasonable requests made during your shift.
