We’re a family-fun business and we’ve been messing about on the river for more than 30 years now. Some of our crew have been with us for over 20 years and lots of our seasonal staff return each year.
In our line of work need to be flexible – with a fleet of three boats, roles vary from skipper to crew, customer service, office support and event organisation. Skipper and crew work as a team to get the boats ready for service each day. They clean and manage boat maintenance and safety checks; stock and run the bar and welcome passengers on board. They also ensure the boats are ready for evening cruises and private charters.
We don’t all sail every day, though – our back office team provide essential support with customer service, admin and information. They’re a one-stop shop for catering, music and special occasions, pulling everything together for private charters weddings and party nights. And if need be, they will come aboard and some are trained to skipper the boats!
With so many visitors, boarding seven days a week, it’s essential that we work together seamlessly for a safe and enjoyable cruise. We all receive regular training and always put the needs and care of our passengers first. Our skipper Paul recently jumped into the Dee to save a child – he’s also averted disaster in avoiding pets taking an unscheduled dip!
We love what we do and count ourselves very fortunate to be able to spend every day on the river and meet so many fantastic people: we hope that shows when you come aboard. We are proud of the contribution we make to the city of Chester and of our role as ambassadors for the city. And we love receiving the good reviews and letters of thanks – thank you so much! We pass every single one on to every member of our team.
Keep your fingers crossed for us when the winners are announced at the Carden Park Hotel on 13 September!
