On Friday 26th of June we held our first ever ‘Curry and Quiz’ cruise and we are proud to announce that it did not disappoint.
We had a full top deck aboard the Mark Twain as we cast off, heading upstream towards Aldford. The evening began with Quizmaster Mark handing out a themed picture round; as it was the first night of Glastonbury 2015 the pictures were all of bands and artists who had headlined the main stage since 1970. Hawkwind, Skunk Anansie and Travis proved particularly tricky for some. At one point Moby was mistakenly identified as Harry Hill too!
Our quiz teams then tucked into their poppadoms and starters, washed down with a glass or two of Cobra from the fully stocked bar. The second round was a multiple choice general knowledge round which tested them to the limit. What was Buzz Aldrin’s mother’s maiden name? Lightyear, Stardust, Moon or Crater? Thankfully nobody fell for Lightyear but not many got the correct answer as Moon.
Main courses followed with a choice of Chicken Tikka Masala, Murog malai Korma (Chicken) and Lamb Karai with a vegetarian option too. We are pleased to report that all the plates were empty at the end; the Bengal Dynasty did a fantastic job with the food.
The quiz culminated in a themed round with ten questions about rivers, much to the disaapointment of one passenger who had spent all week revising about curry in anticipation of an Indian food round! Maybe next time………
At the end of the cruise there scores were added up and the winning team were awarded with their prizes. We were overwhelmed with the amount of positive comments at the end of what was for us a delightful evening to work.
The cruise sails on the last Friday of the month from 7:30PM to 10PM, tickets are £24 each or £90 for 4. Team sizes can range from 2 to 6 with larger groups welcome to split into smaller teams. Book tickets online or by calling our office; we hope to see you at the next one!
